Source of human waste spill still a mystery
Drivers, hold your breath. Human waste spilled on I-94 eastbound near Racine, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The spill delayed traffic for about three hours on Sunday afternoon. Investigators warned of a “liquid non-hazardous substance spilled across all lanes of traffic,” but believe it was human waste.
Captain Tim Carnahan with the State Patrol said crews could not clean up the mess last night because so many cars drove through it, but the area is clear now.
“The extent of the spill dissipated away [because of the heavy traffic],“ Carnahan said.
Carnahan said the source of the spill remains a mystery, but it could have been from an RV or a Port-a-John on the back of a vehicle. He said the area is safe for drivers today.
