WALES - Police say they're frustrated with rumors fueled by social media on the internet surrounding the disappearance of Kathryn Stalbaum.

Inspector Severson said detectives are getting tip calls from people who have spotted posts and tweets on Twitter and Facebook. He said in most cases the information is second hand and not correct.

"We end up kinda chasing our tail when we try to chase social media." Said Severson.

The Waukesha Co. Sheriff's Department said they have a photo of Stalbaum posted on their Facebook page. They would like people to download it to their phone in case they spot someone who looks like the missing teen.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information about Stalbaum.
