CALUMET COUNTY – A snowmobile rider rescued after a crash on Lake Winnebago Sunday has been identified as a police officer. According to the Fond du Lac Reporter, 33-year-old Brian Bednarek is a police officer for the city of Fond du Lac.

Police said Bednarek was injured Sunday after hitting an ice shove on Lake Winnebago with his snowmobile about 3.5 miles off the shore. It took rescue crews about two hours to locate him due to white out conditions.

Bednarek was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be in good condition Monday afternoon. His brother was also out snowmobiling with Bednarek but was not harmed.
