MILWAUKEE -- A series of smash-and-grab thefts has left a dying veteran without some of his medications or any identification.

Several cars had their windows smashed near Cathedral Square over the weekend. That's when Rebecca, who doesn't want to use her last name, said her father's wallet and pills were snatched.

He's been diagnosed with terminal cancer, her precious time with him cut short as she tries to protect him from becoming a victim of identity theft.

How someone could be so heartless to a war hero is hard for her to understand.

"It would just be really nice to not cause any extra stress to a man that served our country and did it so well," she said.

Rebecca is now trying to work with the V.A. and other agencies to try to get her dad some new identification. The man's medications have been replaced.

Witnesses tell TODAY'S TMJ4 at least three other vehicles were broken into in the same area this weekend.
