Six US soldiers killed in helicopter crash Tuesday
KABUL – Six American soldiers were killed after a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
According to NBC News, two Black Hawk helicopters were flying in tandem when one unexpectedly fell out of the sky. The crew of the fallen chopper came under heavy enemy fire. By the time rescuers arrived, six members of the helicopter crew had died. A seventh soldier aboard the helicopter was rescued.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the crash, but the Pentagon is investigating whether was shot down or had mechanical failure.
This was the deadliest day for US forces in Afghanistan in more than a year.
