SILVER LAKE -- Silver Lake is without a fire chief for the the third time in the past few months.

Fire Chief Dave Kordecki submitted his resignation letter Tuesday after just three weeks on the job, according to KenoshaNews.com.

It's just the latest set-back for the troubled fire department in Kenosha County.

The fire chiefs and five other firefighters resigned in May, leaving the department with 14 members. Then the interim fire chief quit a week later, after village leaders rejected a proposal to contract with a neighboring fire department in case of an emergency.

Residents of Silver Lake will vote on whether to dissolve their government in a November election. If approved, Silver Lake would become a small village within the Town of Salem.
