SHEBOYGAN -- A Sheboygan plant was evacuated Wednesday after there were reports of an unidentified odor coming from a nearby sewer Tuesday afternoon.

The sewer was near the Thomas Industries Company, 1419 Illinois Ave., in Sheboygan.

Initial investigations were inconclusive Tuesday. Testing continued Wednesday and the plant was evacuated as a precaution due to elevated readings, according to the Sheboygan Fire Department.

All employees were  safely evacuated and there were no injuries.

The Sheboygan County Hazmat team is now assisting with further testing to identify the substance.
