Schools back in session prepare for the heat
WHITEFISH BAY - We've got summer temperatures this week, but summer's over for students at St. Monica's Catholic School.
Monday was their first day back to school, and because of the heat and humidity, teachers got there nice and early to do a little prep work.
Every window in the school was opened to let the fresh air inside.
St. Monica's spokesperson Lori Schramka says the school also relaxed its uniform policy for the day, as well as for Tuesday, with temperatures expected in the 90s.
Parents like Meghan Hlavach thought that was a great idea because she said uniforms can be a bit hot to wear.
Students were also encouraged to put a water bottle in their backpack so they could stay hydrated throughout the day.
Molly Hinz, a fifth grader at St. Monica's, reported for the first day of classes ready for it.
"Well its kinda hard but summer can't last forever. So you gotta get back into school," said Hinz.
