School Superintendent horrified by slumber party stabbing
WAUKESHA -- Waukesha School superintendent Todd Gray is speaking candidly about the horrific crime his district is dealing with.
"That was beyond surprise," Gray said, calling it "the most horrific thing that I've endured in school administration in 30 years."
12 year-olds Morgan Geyser and Annisa Weier are charged with trying to kill a fellow sixth grader from Hornning Middle School.
Gray said the administration was particularly surprised by the revelation that the two girls became obssesed with a character known as "Slenderman" featured in online stories about horror and death known as "creepypasta."
Gray says parents should not be concerned about a large number of students reading about Slenderman.
"My understanding is that it was a very limited number of students," Gray said, adding that while some students had heard of the site, "it didn't raise any concerns with the staff."
Superintendent Gray says the entire district is working to learn and heal from this crime.
"We just have to move pass this; make sure we learn some things from this; and hopefully, in the next week or two...things will calm down."
