Sandals resorts chair visits Milwaukee with one sweet ride
MILWAUKEE -- She features everything you'd find in a royal suite at the Pfister, but this offers waterfront views.
The Lady Sandals, a 135-foot luxury yacht, arrived this week to McKinley Marina in Milwaukee. She's owned by Gordon Stewart, the Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, but the boat has also hosted celebrities like Martha Stewart, John Mayer and Nicolas Cage.
The person that knows the lady best, though, is "Captain Mick."
"Lady Sandals is a living and breathing extension of the Caribbean," the captain, known more formally as Michael Harris, tells TODAY'S TMJ4. "Our food is Caribbean inspired, we have nice music and a nice laid back vibe about the place."
Harris has been skipper for five years and oversees a full-time crew of seven. Lady Sandals features four bedrooms, a full kitchen, 12-seat dining room, a stocked bar and entertainment center.
Though she calls Miami home, other ports of call include cities in 23 countries.
This business trip for Stewart originated in New York nearly two weeks ago; he'll meet with Wisconsin travel agencies here in Milwaukee until Tuesday.
The captain says Lady Sandals can travel up to 300 miles a day.
