Sand mine settles environmental violations
EAU CLAIRE - A frac sand mining company in western Wisconsin has settled a series of violations of environmental laws.
The same company, Hi-Crush Proppants LLC, received a visit from Governor Walker about two weeks ago to celebrate an expansion.
The Journal Sentinel reports the Justice Department didn't issue a news release detailing the agreement, unlike three similar cases.
The company agreed to pay $52,500 in forfeitures for its violations.
