Rep. Sinicki: 'I was driving on a suspended license'
MILWAUKEE - "Yes. I was driving on a suspended license, unknown to me. As soon as I found out it had been suspended it was taken care of," said State Representative Christine Sinicki.
Representative Sinicki has been in the news a lot lately. She used profanity and criticized Governor Walker during the State of the State address, and now the conservative group Media Trackers has uncovered Sinicki may have broken the law.
"She has collected over $4,000 in mileage per diem payments last year, raising questions, we believe should be answered by Rep. Sinicki about why she was collecting per diem payments while driving on a suspended license," said Brian Sikma of Media Trackers.
Sinicki was pulled over in Jefferson County last fall, and claims she didn't know her license had been suspended.
"It's an honest mistake. I know it's happened to other people," Sinicki said.
Media Trackers is calling on Sinicki to return the taxpayer funded reimbursements.
"No one else can collect money for violating state law," Sikma said.
