Racine woman accused of driving drunk with child in back seat
RACINE - Richanya Butler of Racine is now behind bars, and has been ordered to stay away from her kids.
Investigators with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say 25-year-old Richanya Butler had her 15-month-old child in the back seat while she drove drunk. She was arrested around 3 o'clock Friday morning in the village of Mount Pleasant.
Butler and the baby’s father were both wearing seat belts. When the deputy looked past them, there was a 15 month old lying on the back seat.
Butler told deputies the baby’s father was unconscious because he’d used marijuana and had been drinking. They determined that she had also been drinking and used marijuana. She was ticketed for driving without a valid driver’s license and for not properly protecting her child.
A family member picked up the child when Butler was arrested. She can only see her kids if she’s supervised. In the meantime, she was turned over to the Racine County Jail.
