Racine Zoo announces contest to name new lion cubs
UPDATE 08/05 3:22 p.m. -- The Racine Zoo has announced details for a contest to name their three new lion cubs.
Beginning Wednesday, August 6 at noon, all Racine-area Johnson Bank locations will have "Name the Cub" contest forms and ballot boxes ready to accept submissions from the community.
The contest will run through Monday, August 18th. The winners will receive a prize package from the Zoo and Johnson Bank, and will be announced on Thursday, August 21.
RACINE - The Racine County Zoo is welcoming three lion cubs, born earlier this month.
Two of the three cubs were born to mother Azizi on Monday July 7th, while the birth of the third was announced the following day.
"Azizi is turning out to be a great mother," says Theresa Donarski, the Zoo's curator of conservation and animal care. "She's been feeding the cubs well, giving them baths, and staying close to her babies."
The cubs will remain quarantined for about five weeks before being officially introduced to the public. Details about a "Name the Cubs" contest, sponsored by Johnson Bank, will follow.
