Man from Racine Sentenced to 145 years for baby sitter sexual assaults
RACINE -- A man from Racine was sentenced to over 100 years in prison today for sexually assaulting young children he agreed to babysit.
The Racine Journal Times says Alexander Ricther was handed 145 years in prison -- plus 75 years of extended supervision -- for sexually assaulting and videotaping the assualts of six different children.
Richter met the children's parents while he was studying at Gateway Techincal College. He pleaded no contest in September to some of the nearly 50 charges against him.
Racine County DA Robert Repischak asked that he be sentenced to 80 years as part of a plea deal. A public defender representing Richter asked for 30 years and extended supervision.
She said Richter "does take full responsibility" and wants treatment to "function properly in society."
According to police, Richter molested the six children between March 2009 and October 2012. Police and court records say he had nearly 23 videos and almost 200 photos of the assaults.
The judge who senteced Ricther said the children were between 2 1/2 and 7 years old.
