Questions remain in death of local makeup artist
DELAFIELD - There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the death of a makeup artist in Delafield. Sarah Brucker died of smoke inhalation in a fire last month but investigators still haven't said if they know why she couldn't escape her burning apartment.
Now, another search warrant has been issued in connection to the investigation.
Police haven't said much about the investigation since the fire broke out on Aug. 7. The big question is why Brucker wasn’t able to make it out alive even though she was found near an exit.
"It does not appear to make sense that the victim would not have used the egress or exit, unless she was somehow incapacitated," a fire investigator said about the circumstances surrounding Brucker’s death.
In Waukesha County, a new search warrant seeks phone records from her boyfriend who saw her earlier that night. She sent him a text message before the fire asking him to hurry home.
Investigators already have the same records from Brucker's husband. The couple had been separated at the time of her death.
Neither man is being called a suspect or person of interest, but police said they want to find a cause of the fire that led to her death.
The medical examiner is still waiting additional tests into the manner of death to be completed.
