MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee's Public Transportation Review Board will meet Friday to discuss a proposed ordinance that would lift the cap on taxi permits.

The ordinance would clear the way for car services such as Uber and Lyft, which are currently not regulated by the city.

Right now there are 400 taxis in the city of Milwaukee, and they all have to affiliate with a city approved company.

Transportation Council members and Common Council members said they want to make sure passenger rights are protected.
