STEVENS POINT, Wis -- Recent pay figures show that professors in the University of Wisconsin System generally earn less than they could at comparable universities. A Gannett Wisconsin Media report says the figures underscore the challenge of attracting and retaining the best professors. For example, full professors at UW-Madison had an average salary of $106,200 last year. The median salary among 11 similar schools was $134,500.
