GREEN BAY - Officers with the Green Bay Police Department are warning consumers of a series of fraud cases involving prepaid credit cards.

Investigators say victims using 'Green Dot' cards are receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be representatives of a variety of known entities such as WPS, Publishers Clearing House and bond collectors attempting to collect a fine.

They usually use deceit by offering a prize or use threatening language to extract money from their victims.

Police advise consumers to report these cases to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Or you can call the agency's hotline at 1-800-422-7128.
