MILWAUKEE -- Police are investigating a deadly industrial accident at a Milwaukee business.

A 38 year-old man was crushed by a machine around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Nuvo, a cement and construction business near Chase and Oklahoma Avenues.

Milwaukee police said that Stephen Rauth of Greenfield died while making a repair in a concrete mixing tower.

Nuvo's manager Nicholas Rivecca said Rauth oversaw production, and would have been the first to inspect any machine malfunction.

When staffers tried to radio him., there was no answer. A supervisor later found him pinned under a machine.

Rauth worked at Nuvo for 5 years.

"He was a really hard worker, clearly," said sister Amanda Lee. "He was really just an amazing person all the way around."

A memorial fund for Rauth has been set up at Citizens Bank of Mukwonago. Proceeds will benefit his wife and three small children ages 11, 7 and 2.
