Police identify 15-year-old suspect killed during attempted robbery
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Police have identified the alleged teen robber killed in Walker's Point.
Police say Camron T. Powell, 15, was shot to death by his intended victim near South 2nd Street and West National Avenue.
According to investigators, Powell was a member of a teenage gang responsible for more than 30 armed robberies and carjackings throughout the Milwaukee area.
Powell has a lengthy arrest record, including charges related to armed robbery and auto theft. Just last month, he was wounded in a shooting in the 3100 block of N. 55th Street.
On Monday morning, police say Powell was with a group who allegedly tried to rob a 30-year-old West Allis man, who is a security guard at a bar nearby. That man drew a gun and shot the teen.
A report by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office indicates that the shooting took place in a parking lot, where a vehicle that was stolen in a carjacking, was found. A glove was found in that car, and a matching glove was found next to Powell on the ground.
So far, five teenagers have been arrested, but police say more arrests are on the way.
