Plans for new golf course in Sheboygan County put on hold
TOWN OF WILSON -- Plans for a new golf course in Sheboygan County have been put on hold after residents in the Town of Wilson blasted the idea at a meeting last night.
The Town of Wilson board planning meeting lasted more than three hours. According to JSOnline, more than three hundred
people showed up.
Kohler Resorts recently submitted plans for a new golf resort just north of Kohler-Andrae State Park. Kohler owns the land and is requesting a land permit change to open up the course, which would be its fifth.
Mary Faydash lives six doors down from that property and is concerned the impending project may ruin existing nature.
"Putting in a golf course doesn't mean the land will be preserved," she said. "The land will be deforested ... one of the largest impacts from a golf course is fertilizer runoff into the water."
Supporters argue the golf course would be a great neighbor because it would bring jobs, add to the tax base and increase tourism.
