Paul Ryan lays out plan to fight poverty
MADISON -- US Congressman Paul Ryan was on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday to lay out his plan to fight poverty.
The Republican says he believes that states like Wisconsin are better sutied to fight poverty at a local level than the federal government.
Not everyone agreres, however. Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Moore says she believes Ryan's plans would cut out an important safety net for America's poor.
Ryan says he believes the current system is a "poverty maganement program" and he would hope to empower people to get back to work.
