Overnight shooting in Kenosha leaves one dead
UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Anthony Edwards.
KENOSHA -- A 20-year-old Kenosha man was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle that ran into a Kenosha home Monday night.
Police said the victim was shot while driving, around 11 p.m. at 58th Street and 11th Avenue, which led him to crash his car into a home at 65th Street and Sheridan Road.
"It’s kind of creepy,” neighbor Michael Utterback said. “It's a pretty quiet neighborhood."
Lieutenant Bradley Hetlet of the Kenosha Police Department said two adult males fled the scene and were found at a nearby home.
Julius Mabry lives about a block away. He wondered what was going on when he saw all the police tape.
“They were looking down the block for probably a weapon, you know," Mabry said. "That's what it looked like."
Police found the gun and said they don’t think it’s a random shooting.
"I’ve lived in Kenosha for the last 30 years, so it's a pretty new idea - someone shooting this close to me,” Mabry said. “But I guess it happens everywhere."
Police said they think the two men are involved in the shooting. They’re not calling them "suspects" at this time, but are being questioned by detectives.
