North side restaurant makes 4th Dirty Dining appearance
MILWAUKEE - The owner of this spot on the city's north side says he's not doing anything wrong. But why is this restaurant is on dirty dining, for the fourth time?
It's Judy's Red Hots on 48th and Lisbon. This month the owner was fined, but Amjad Tufail kept insisting there's nothing wrong in his kitchen. Written up for food temperature issues, Tufail's response was "No. Absolutely no food temperature issues."
We pointed out beef patties at 58 degrees, sliced tomatoes at 77. Tufail told us "beef patties, she asked us to put in a cooler." Tufail also said tomatoes are part of a new food code, which he didn't know about. There was also a walk-in cooler, running too warm.
An employee touched frozen, raw philly steak then sliced cheese and tomato without changing gloves. Something that could make customers sick. "Every time they use, they change the gloves," Tufail said. Not according to the health inspector.
Tufail wanted to show us the kitchen - where there was mold in the spout on the slushie machine. Tufail claims that's been cleaned. An employee was storing personal items on the food slicer. "When I came to know they were fined for that," Tufail told us.
Fly strips were over an area where employees prep customer's food. That's a violation from past inspections. Those strips were moved. Ceiling panels were filthy and walls were dirty. Tufail said it will all be fixed when Judy's Red Hots is re inspected.
And over at McBob's Pub & Grill on North just off Lisbon they were fined for temperature issues and expired food.
Keeping it clean is Kasana Cafe in the Third Ward on Broadway.
