MILWAUKEE - Newsradio 620 WTMJ is a finalist for a Marconi Award, an award that honors radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting.

"Named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Award is among the top honors any station could receive," said Tom Langmyer, Vice President and General Manager for Journal Broadcast Group's Milwaukee Radio Operations. "The award recognizes a station's service to the community and overall excellence in broadcasting."

The station is one of five nominees for "Large Market Station of the Year," the National Association of Broadcasters announced Tuesday.

"The WTMJ family is honored to be a finalist for this prestigious award in acknowledgement of our service as Wisconsin's Radio Station," Langmyer said.

The winners will be announced September 11 in Indianapolis.
