NEW BERLIN -  A teenager from New Berlin is on a waiting list for a life giving surgery.

Katie Wilkinson needs a multiple organ transplant to overcome the pain she struggles with almost everyday.

"Katie is ready," said her mother Mary. "It's something she knows, she's 17-years old, it's something that can really help her. She's well aware of the good and the bad.

Mary has watched her daughter struggle with a rare digestive illness since birth. Her intestines don't work.

Now she's on a waiting list at a Pittsburgh Hospital.

"That's hard, yeah that's really hard," said Mary about the waiting, "because you never know when the call is going to be made."

Hope 4 Katie is now a big fundraising effort with some great auction items this weekend.

Money raised will help cover six months of living expenses when the call is made and a $10,000 chartered flight.

Mary's long time employer -  the faith based Catholic Financial Life  - has been a key supportive partner.

"So when you think about the effort we are undertaking here in support of Katie, it's really a fulfillment of our mission," said John Borgen, Senior Vice President at Catholic Financial Life. "It's really an extension of what our members do across the country everyday."

Mary feels blessed by the outpouring of support.  "We've been surrounded by love."

It's from 4pm to 8pm. There will be a spaghetti dinner, live auction, door prizes, raffles, cash bar, and entertainment.
