KENOSHA -- They're sending a lot more than condolences.

The family of five-year-old Bailay McCollum credits their neighbors for lifting their spirits with several gestures ranging from prepared meals to yard work.

Bailey's father says he finds the most moving sentiment tied around mailboxes and trees throughout the block. To honor Bailey, people posted blue ribbons because blue was Bailey's favorite color.

"It's like a special little person is no longer here," neighbor Mary Callahan tells TODAY'S TMJ4. "I could see him playing with his dad or waiting at the bus stop. And he's not there. That's got to be sad on any level whether you knew him or not. It has to touch you."

Bailey McCollum died Oct. 8 in a car crash off Highway E in Somers. Police say a drunk driver ran a stop sign and crashed into McCollum's sister's car.
