Mobile home residents evicted due to unsafe conditions
MILWAUKEE - Some people who live at a south side mobile home park are being told they have to find a new place to live.
The news came after Inspectors for the City of Milwaukee ruled the mobile homes unlivable.
The city took control of Evergreen Court near 27th and Howard after it went into foreclosure because of unpaid taxes.
Kimberly Van Ert said she is outraged at how the residents are being treated.
"I see them treating these people like dogs. They're throwing them on the street like they're nothing." Van Ert said.
Department of Neighborhood Services spokesman Todd Weiler said thirteen mobile homes have been deemed unsafe.
"You have sewage spilling out on to the ground, you have people who are using space heaters to stay warm, in a very thinly insulated mobile home, that's a huge fire risk." Weiler said.
Weiler told TODAY'S TMJ4 they are attempting to find temporary housing for the residents until they can find a place to live.
Inspectors say the residents must be moved out by Tuesday morning.
