Mitchell International Airport to offer expedited security process
MILWAUKEE - If you're in a rush at Mitchell International Airport, a new service may get you to the terminal on time.
The TSA will soon offer expedited security checks for some frequent fliers.
The Transportation Security Administration announced Thursday that it will expand its TSA expedited screening program to 60 new airports in addition to the existing 40, bringing the total number of airports with to 100. Milwaukee will be included in the program, which should be at Mitchell by the end of the year.
The passengers in the program will no longer have to take off their shoes or remove their laptops from their luggage.
If a passenger is eligible for expedited screening, an indicator will be embedded in the barcode of the boarding pass and scanned at the checkpoint.
TSA warns that passengers are always be subject "random and unpredictable security measures" throughout the airport, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
