MILWAUKEE --  Contractors have finally fixed the problem that caused nearly 100 water mains to break around Milwaukee earlier this year.

Milwaukee Water Works shut down a water treatment plant in May due to a leak. The repairs cost the city $1.7 million.
"We did some testing over the last several days," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. "Fortunately we are here to report that there were no problems that we experienced there."
Barrett credited a nearby homeowner for spotting the leak and potentially saving the city from a bigger disaster.
