MILWAUKEE - It's a time of mourning, but you won't find anyone shedding tears.

Marquette University students today launched a social media campaign dubbed #FatherNausTaughtMe to honor the late Father John Naus.

The campaign includes making today a Day of Kindness, encouraging everyone to tell jokes and perform good deeds like holding the door open and saying hello to a new friend.

Naus attended Marquette then returned as faculty for 49 years, and he earned a reputation as a jovial mentor to generations of Golden Eagles.

"He was the greatest guy and he would always come in so happy," recalled sophomore Marissa Filter. "He'd sit in a Marquette wheelchair and wear Marquette sweatpants and Marquette shirt and Marquette everything."

The university will hold a more formal memorial on Thursday evening at Church of the Gesu.
