Michelle Obama to make a stop in Watertown this week
WATERTOWN - First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Watertown on Thursday to encourage Americans to drink more water.
When Watertown Mayor John David got the call that First Lady Michelle Obama was on her way, it took a minute to sink in.
"I'll be very honest with you, I thought it was a joke," Mayor David said.
But it was no joke. The First Lady will be in town Thursday to launch a new effort to get people to drink more water.
"I think it's fantastic," he said. "I think it'll be a super promotion for our city. We have fantastic drinking water here. We have a company, Wis Pak, that bottles water here, taken out of the ground in Watertown."
Mayor David tells us he's known for about a week, but couldn't let the cat out of the bag until the official announcement Monday.
"I've had a ton of phone calls. Everybody's excited."
Also on the guest list for Thursday - actress Eva Longoria. However, based on space limitations at the high school, the event is not open to the public.
