MILWAUKEE - A soldier honored for his extraordinary bravery talked about how he helped fight back the Taliban in 2008.

Army Sargent Ryan Pitts was in Milwaukee Wednesday.

He spoke to TODAY'S TMJ4 at the Milwaukee Athletic Club before an event where he was honored.

Six years ago, Sgt. Pitts outpost came under attack by enemy fighters. Nine soldiers died, 27 more were critically injured.

Despite his wounds, Pitts fought back until help arrived.

"I saw these guys fighting with everything they had and I just felt like I owed it to them to do the same." Pitts said.

The Sargent was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama at a White House Ceremony in July.

Pitts met with new recruits and veterans in the Milwaukee area Wednesday.

His final stop will be a Brewers game at Miller Park.
