Marquette University names interim president
MILWAUKEE - Following last week's resignation announcement from Rev. Scott Pilarz, Marquette University announced Wednesday that Rev. Robert Wild will take over as interim president while the university searches for a permanent replacement.
Wild served as Marquette's president from 1996 to 2011. The university says that under his tenure, undergraduate applications increased dramatically - from nearly 5,000 to 20,000 in 2010.
“I left Marquette for two years, but my heart has always been here,” Wild said. “As Jesuits, we are called to serve where we are needed, and I’m hopeful my past experience will help move the university forward in this time of transition.”
Pilarz announced his resignation last week, stating he wants to "consider other apostolic opportunities."
