MEQUON -- A cup of coffee may have saved a man's life in Mequon.

Jack and Terry Benske were leaving their house Sunday, but Jack decided to go back and make a quick cup of coffee. That's when he spotted a canoe that had capsized in the Milwaukee river and called 9-1-1.
"I had just finished brewing, took one sip and I heard some yelling. Consistent. Consistant. Help. Help. Help," Jack Benske said.
Rescue crews arrived and pulled the man out of the river.  He's doing okay now.
"It was a very unforgettable experience," said Terry Benske. "And we're just so pleased that Jack wanted a cup of coffee."
