Man accused of killing family found not competent to stand trial
WAUKESHA - The man from Waukesha accused of killing three farmers has been sent to a mental institution.
A judge found that Jaren Kuester isn't competent to stand trial.
Kuester was charged with killing 70-year-old Gary Thoreson; his 66-year-old wife, Chloe Thoreson; and his 76-year-old brother, Dean Thoreson, in April at their farmhouse near Wiota.
The 31-year-old was committed to an institute in Madison on Thursday. He had been found competent to stand trial back in July. Kuester’s attorney says he was surprised by the decision and expects the commitment to be temporary.
