Mad rush for groceries before deep freeze
MILWAUKEE - A lot of people are dreading those below 0 temperatures that will be here soon. Many got all their shopping done while they still had time.
It was all hands on deck at Pick 'n Save. Customers were stocking up on essentials to keep them going when that frigid blast hits.
One man was shopping with his twin boys. They waited in line about 15 minutes.
"Yeah, we were like half way down the cracker aisle when we had to get in line, but I didn't expect it to be this busy," explains shopper Jason Francour.
Employees had to come in early and stay later to help out. Some came in on their days off. Even the store manager bagged groceries. He says it's as busy as a holiday.
"The people that are getting half a shopping cart are getting a full shopping cart. Nobody wants to go out in the cold Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday," says store manager Matt Meyer.
Many customers said they'll be watching the Packers game and have plenty to eat and drink.
"I’m just prepping for the week so we don't have to come back during the cold snap," adds shopper Jason Francour.
