MPD officers honored for bravery
MILWAUKEE -- It is the job of police officers to risk their lives to protect others.
Still, last week when a group of Milwaukee police officers stormed into a burning building
, they acted more like firefighters. Today, their bravery was honored.
"Every day our officers do their best to embody the values of our profession, and honor the values of our police department," Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn said.
Because of the quick police response, no one was trapped or hurt in the fire.
Officer Andrew Moutry was one of six officers from District 4 honored Tuesday.
Moutry doesn't think of himself as a hero. He said he is truly grateful for the recognition of his and his fellow officers efforts.
He said it was unusual in a sense, because police officers are not always thanked for their services.
"That's a pleasure in itself," he said.
The Milwaukee Police Department also honored Sgt. Patrick Brosseau and officers Kenneth Daugherty, Rufaro Davis, Shalimar Lefore and Phillip Lewis.
