Local ski area makes first snow of the year
KEWASKUM - A local ski resort can now say they have snow, but it's not what you might think.
Due to the freeze Monday night, the Sunburst Ski Area fired up their snowmaking machines Monday night for the first time of the season.
"Were taking advantage of this week's unusual cold snap -- revving our equipment with the hopes of opening the park in the next few days," says Rob Friedl, co-CEO, Sunburst Winter Sports Park. "Within a few cold nights, weather permitting, we hope to get people out on the snow to enjoy the terrain and get excited for the season to begin -- we are definitely ready."
The ski area worked all summer to make improvements to the area, and are now looking forward to the new blanket of snow.
"We love skiing and want to provide more opportunities for pure outdoor fun for winter lovers from all over the Milwaukee area and southeastern Wisconsin," Friedl said. "We invite you to come take a look at our new blanket of white [Tuesday] morning.
