Local girl is serenaded by Aaron Rodgers
BAYSIDE – Thirteen-year-old Kelly LeTart has always loved to sing.
"I just get like this rushy kinda feeling... I just have a passion," she gushes.
Kelly expresses that passion on the stage, and has had many roles in plays across the area. She says, "Right now I'm in A Christmas Carol, and a just got into La Boheme with Florentine Opera."
Jim LeTart is constantly impressed with his daughter's accomplishments. "Extremely proud. I couldn't be more happy or more proud of my little girl."
Kelly was born with spina bifida, but that doesn't slow her down.
"I don't really let it get in my way, and I just, I do normal activities, sometimes I have to be adapted, but I still try," she says matter-of-factly.
Activities like water-skiing, made possible by the local organization Independence First.
"When she goes skiing or water-skiing, she just lights up, so happy, having so much fun...because that's an experience she would never have otherwise," Jim explains.
Now, Kelly and Independence First are in the spotlight, thanks to the new 'It's Aaron' online video, featuring Packers star Aaron Rodgers.
"He did some music with me and everything, and I was just really surprised, cuz I didn't expect it at all," Kelly laughs.
Attorney David Gruber helped come up with the idea--to have Aaron and Kelly sing together!
"When he seemed to be anxious to go along with it, it just seemed like a really cool idea," Gruber recalls.
They collaborated on a song about their dreams. Aaron says, "I was thinking about driving in a car, sunny day."
Kelly adds, "I was kinda thinking about Broadway, famous people."
Aaron replies, "Sweet, that's way better than mine!"
The result... a very special duet!
So are Kelly's friends jealous Aaron Rodgers sang to her? She says shyly, "The girls in my class just, they thought it was really exciting I got to meet him, but they weren't like, at least they didn't say they were jealous I got serenaded by Aaron Rodgers!"
As you watch the VIDEO, you can tell Aaron is having just as good a time as Kelly.
Kelly's dream is to eventually use her theater skills to land a role on TV, and not let any challenges stand in her way.
