MILWAUKEE -- Emergency rooms in our area are on high alert for frostbite cases after a few cases came through thier doors today.

"It's going to hurt, going to feel numb," said Dr. Jerry Suriano with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. "Signs it's progressing, it'll have a change in appearance - may look white or waxy."

Suriano said the worst thing you can do is massage areas that get frostbite.

"It actually makes it worse," he said. "You should use warm, not hot, water to rewarm your skin."
