MENOMONEE FALLS - Kohl's Department Stores announced they will do something they have never done in their company's history Thursday.

The chain plans to open their stores for 100 straight hours beginning December 20th. They will not close until Christmas Eve.

There are six fewer shopping days this year, which could have prompted the move.

Shoppers say they support the extended hours. "I guess with the short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas people probably need it like me." said Denise Tuttle.

Kohl's Glendale and Brown Deer store will not be permitted to remain open 24 hours a day because of local ordinances. Those stores will extend their holiday hours.

It's not clear if other retailers plan to follow Kohl's move.
