RACINE - Mark today as a first - kids running *to* school. Does it matter that they were more aptly running *from* the cold?

With a morning temperature of 1 degree outside Roosevelt Elementary, dozens of kids dashed from cars and buses to school entrances looking like they just got off the Polar Express.
"I've got my snowpants, my gloves, two pair of shirts, a jacket and my scarf," third grader Kenneth Jackson showed off to TODAY'S TMJ4.
All southeast Wisconsin schools stayed open despite Thursday morning's sub-zero wind chills.
Several districts canceled outdoor recess and let in students as soon as they arrived. At dismissal, schools planned to keep kids inside the building until their buses arrived or their parents came to pick them up.
