Kenosha County WIC is open, despite the government shutdown
KENOSHA - The Wisconsin WIC wants to make sure the public knows they are open for business despite the government shutdown.
“WIC is a nutrition program for pregnant women, new moms, infants and children up to age 5," according to Pam Halbach, Kenosha WIC Director. "More than 4,000 participants in Kenosha County receive help from WIC each month.”
Kenosha County WIC offices are encouraging all of our families to keep their appointments and continue to come in to our office to receive food checks, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support.
Grocery stores and pharmacies that accept WIC checks will be reimbursed from State WIC Program.
Farmers’ market checks can continue to be spent through Oct. 31 and farmers have until Nov. 15 to deposit their checks at the bank.
