JOHNSON CREEK - A new domed school will be built in Johnson Creek after voters approved an $18.9 million dollar referendum Tuesday.

Different versions of the plan had been turned down by voters four other times.

Superintendent Michael Garvey says the slimmed down version won't have an athletic field for now.

But he added they will conduct a fundraising effort to help pay for the field.

Some residents were opposed to the plan stating it was too expensive in tough economic times.

The combined middle and high school will consist of a series of energy efficient domes. Officials hope to have it completed by the fall of 2015.
