Jackson man arrested following early morning standoff
JACKSON -- Police arrested a 72-year-old man following a standoff with several police agencies early Friday morning.
The man's son notified police Thursday night after he received a voicemail from his father where he said he threatened to kill police officers and commit suicide if they entered his barricaded apartment.
The elderly man claimed to have retrieved several handguns and long weapons from a cabin in northern Wisconsin, according to Jackson police.
Police evacuated several residents from the apartment building during negotiations.
The man surrendered around 12:30 a.m. Friday and no weapons were found in the apartment.
Possible charges are pending.
