Injured state trooper speaks about his recovery
APPLETON -- A Wisconsin State trooper spoke out for the first time following his lengthy recovery from a January accident.
While investigating a vehicle crash on Jan. 26 in Winnebago County on US 41, a driver lost control of his vehicle and struck Hansen and his cruiser.
Hansen’s legs were broken in the crash and required surgery. His right leg was severely injured and amputated below the knee.
"There is just so many people that are inspiring to me," Hansen said. "I'd like to get there, maybe down the road I can inspire someone."
It's state law to move over or slow down when an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road.
