Handicapped person rescued from Milwaukee fire

Firefighters have rescued a handicapped person after a fire on the city's north side Friday morning.

It happened at about 10:35 a.m. on the 6000 block of North 37th Street.

The fire happened on the second floor of a duplex on that block.  Rescue crews helped the handicapped person from their first floor home in that building.

That handicapped person was behing checked out at an ambulance on the scene, but was said to be fine.

There was no initial word on the cause or the amount of damage.
