JUNEAU - A brief ceremonial groundbreaking was conducted Monday at the future site of the Dodge County Law Enforcement Memorial.

It’s an idea that’s been years in the making, meant to honor law enforcement officials who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

“It’s wonderful to see equipment at work on the memorial,” said Sheriff Pat Ninmann of the Memorial Committee. “The Association and the Memorial Committee have done a lot of work to get us where we are today.”

Heavy equipment shortly arrived to begin work on the brick-and-mortar memorial set to be formally dedicated on September 11, 2014.

The committee is hoping to have as many surviving family members as possible to attend the dedication. Memorial pavers have also been a great source of sponsorship according to Juneau Police Chief, Dave Beal.

One can purchase a paver by contacting Chief Beal at 920-386-4810, or through local law enforcement.
